The
photograph shows the large diameter pumping line passing through a waterjet
cut stainless steel bulkhead panel supplied by Holifields. The customised panel
is shown fitted with removable smaller panels for the many bulkhead electrical
and pneumatic feedthroughs.
The thermal vacuum chamber is evacuated to the cross-over pressure of the
high vacuum pump by oil-free roughing pumps located behind the main filter
bank wall.
